Refugee Week 2023 - Short Film

Our short film is here!

After the incredible events of Refugee Week Creative Actions, filled with care and creativity, we’re delighted to share this short cut created by talented local videographer, Fizzel Castro.

We think you’ll see it really captures the flavour of the programme and our amazing, compassionate community. The programme was designed for the widest possible audience of all ages, to build solidarity and shared understanding and offer creative and communal moments together. With support from the Arts Council and National Lottery, we produced an eclectic programme of 30 events, with dozens of artists, running over 8 days. From Rye to Bexhill and right across our glorious town of Hastings and St Leonards, we offered collage, clay, murals, music and meals – so much delicious food – as well as moments to hear each other’s stories and find our common humanity. Thanks to all of you who made this week such a special one to remember and we’ll leave you with this lovely comment – one of many – from the exhibition at Electro Studios: “Deeply affecting exhibition; so tenderly put together with dignity and grace – bless you all and thank you for sharing your truth.”
